Annum

Support

Annum is a camera that travels through time: 35 cameras from 1839 to 2010, each one developing the picture the way its process did. No account, no upload, no ads. Photos go straight to your Photos library.

How Annum works

Turn the dial to travel

The time dial runs from 1839 to 2010. Each stop is a camera with its own body, controls and film. The Camera Museum lists every camera by decade, with a short history page for each one.

Real procedures, or Quick shoot

Old cameras are operated the way they were: slide in the plate holder, take off the lens cap, count the seconds, wind on, set aperture and shutter speed. Switch on Quick shoot in Settings and one tap does the plate, cap and winding for you.

Photos are saved immediately

Every developed photo is written to your Photos library the moment it finishes. The in-app Roll keeps your last 50 photos for re-developing and sharing; removing a photo from the Roll never removes it from Photos.

Questions

  1. Which cameras are free?

Tintype, Classic 35 mm B&W and Disposable are free forever, at full resolution with no time limit. Every other camera can be used live in the viewfinder and gives 3 full-quality shots before it asks for Pro. The counters are kept in the Keychain, so reinstalling does not reset them; captures and imports both count.

  2. Why is there a small Annum mark on my photo?

On the free plan each photo carries a small, era-appropriate mark in the corner. Annum Pro removes it from all photos, including those from the free cameras.

  3. Can I keep a Pro camera without paying?

Yes. Some missions unlock a camera to keep: for example five tintypes unlock the Ambrotype, and shooting with five different cameras unlocks the Toy camera. A camera earned this way stays unlocked even if you never buy Pro.

  4. Why are my daguerreotypes and tintypes mirror-reversed?

Because the real ones were: a plate exposed directly in the camera is a mirror image. Turn Mirror image off in the camera’s options if you prefer it the modern way.

  5. Can I apply an era to a photo I already have?

Yes. Open the Roll, tap Import, pick a photo, choose a camera and tap Develop. Annum saves a new photo and never changes the original.

  6. How does the silent film camera work?

Crank by hand for at least 5 seconds, choose the speed, add an optional title card and the sound, then develop the film. The video lands in Photos. Free films run up to 15 seconds; Pro films up to a minute.

  7. What is the darkroom?

An optional mini-game for black-and-white shots, switched on in Settings: you rock the print through developer, stop bath and fixer yourself. You can skip it at any moment.

Annum Pro

  • Two ways to buy: a yearly subscription with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers, or a one-time lifetime purchase. No credits, no weekly plan.
  • Both unlock every camera (future ones included), every film, frame and option, the aged and fresh looks, the tilt viewer, minute-long silent films and photos without the mark.
  • Prices are shown in the app exactly as the App Store reports them for your country.
  • The trial: Annum can set a local reminder two days before it ends. To cancel, open iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Annum. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
  • New phone or fresh install? Settings → Restore purchases, signed in with the Apple Account that bought Pro.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple: request one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

When the picture does not come out

Camera access is off
Open iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera and allow Annum. Until then you can still import photos from your library.
Could not save to Photos
Annum asks for permission to add photos on the first save. Check Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → Annum.
The picture is dark
Old cameras expose what you set. Open the aperture, choose a slower shutter speed or faster film, or tap the viewfinder to meter on your subject.
The viewfinder is upside down
That is the ground glass of a view camera. Turn off Ground-glass view in that camera’s options if you prefer a normal view.
The shutter opens the Pro sheet
You have used this camera’s 3 free shots. Choose a free camera, complete a mission that unlocks it, or get Pro.
